    Exhaust Cutouts

Hello. I am trying to figure out how to fit Cutouts under my 2000 Vette. My mechanic says there is no room unless you pointed the dump spout down, which would be dangerous and reduce clearance. I don't want to have to get a custom exhaust for a $30 part. Does anyone know of Cutouts specifically for the Vette or a way around the issue? Thanks for any advice on this.

Good luck. My buddy has clearance problems on his stock height SS.

Pointing them dowm would be dangerous due to the fact that the dump stems would protrude down by about 3 inches, thus limiting ground clearence and causing a situation where they could hook onto something on the road and rip the whole exhaust off.

I welded my cutout in the primary pipe right before it starts to bend up to go over the axle, I just faced the cutout to the side. for referance my cutout is just about next to my front LCA mount facing toward the passenger side. No clearance issues with my eibachs at all.

Check out the pic. it's very blurry but you can see it.

In this pic my car is jacked up about 2 feet off the ground and I guess it looks like its sticking down from this view.Whnmy car is at ride height if you look under the passenger side you can only see the bottom corner of the cutout and its about 1/2in. lower than the stock exhaust. I have had the cutout on since mid June 05, put about 11,000 miles since and never had a problem with scraping or getting hung up. My SLP y-pipe hangs down further than the cutout and will lightly scrape if I go over a mean speed bump, but never hit the cutout.

    Exhaust Cutouts

I intstalled a set of electric cutouts on my 2000 C5. I put them just before the mufflers, one on each side. The dump came out just under the center storage area. When open they added 10 hp on the dyno however I took them off because when closed they never really sealed up the sound completely. When they were closed it sounded like they were half open. Good luck.

Check with QTP, they make a C5 specific H-pipe that has cutouts built into it. Look at the location of the cutouts and that should help give an idea of where to place them
