dropped T40 tool while installing short throw shifter
I was finishing the installation of my B&M Ripper shifter this afternoon, and I was using a T40 bit which i put on my socket set to remove the shifter base. its basically a small thing one end goes into the socket and the other end is a star (its like a phillips screwdriver end sorta). the problem is, it fell underneath the shifter assembly and I tried to see if i could fish it out but i cant find it anywhere. I tried to even drive, slam the blakes a lil to see if that would move it, but still cant find it or even hear it. My question is, will this fall out of my car eventually on the road somewhere (which case i dont care i can just get another tool) or more importantly, will this potentially cause any damage? any insight is appreciated. thanks guys

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
you need Link tools; their locking collar prevents anything from slidding off or dropping un expectedly.

Electron Blue- 2002 Convertible Corvette
Older post I know but I'm looking at getting a short throw like yours, wanted to ask a few questions:
How big a difference in feel from stock is it? Does it go in/out of gear as smoothly or is a more "solid" feeling? Do you have before/after pictures? How annoying was install (besides the dropping thing )? I'm only seeing the B&M ripper and precision shifter listed everywhere I go, are there any alternatives (besides the cheap ebay crap)?
Thanks,
Jon

Drove a buddie's Trans Am with a Short throw and then a 'Hawk without one..and I'd MUCH prefer the short throw!

I have had a stocker and a short throw in my 95 TA, but the Vette's stocker has a significantly different feel from the TA stocker, it's just a bit long. If I could just get a shorter stick on it that would be great, but I'm not finding anything. I don't want to ruin the smoothness of the stock shifter by putting a B&M on it.

its a lot shorter and basically, its a bit tough going into first , a lil in 5th and 6th and rev, but 1st to 2nd 2nd to 3 and 3rd to 4th its wayyyy more accurate and quick. They really dont call it a ripper shifter for nothing. the old shifter selects the gears, this thing COMMANDS them. the dropped tool hasnt given me a problem since, i think it probably rolled out somewhere. Install otherwise was easy and its overall definetaly worth if u ask me
