    is a catback a must?

i have a 2002 zo6. its stock now but i want to start modding alittle. I decided to do a Intake, custom tune, and full exhaust. as for the exhaust i think im gonna go with Kooks headers w/ x pipe. Is it important to do a catback as well? i was considering just doing the headers w/ x pipe and leaving the stock exhaust. Just a thought so dont rip me apart. im only suggesting this because ive seen it done and it dont sound bad, but still retains the stock appearence. Also what intakes do you guys recommend? and how much rwhp should i expect with the full exhaust, intake, and tune?

First off, if I were on Long Island I'd go see the ARH headers at Vette Doctors in Amityville Best in the business!!

If you are happy with the stock titanium exhaust I would keep it on. Unless you switch to straight pipes I don't think you would notice much of a difference in performance from any other aftermarket manuf. They only difference would be sound

Keep the stock exhaust. It's light.

X2 i've put in a million aftermarket exhaust systems on corvettes at my dealership and there isnt a single one that is lighter or as light as the stock system. i'm sure there is one but i havent seen it.

most of the time the systems are more than twice the weight.
just do headers. it sounds awesome.

I agree. I like ARH too. Keep the stock Z06 titainium catback. It is 18 pounds lighter that the stock catback and much lighter than some aftermarket stainless catbacks. Also, you are only loosing 2-3 hp over a completely open exhaust.
