Is buying a used z06 from carmax a good idea?

So no one ever bought a corvette at carmax.

I haven't bought a vette, but I have bought 4 vehicles from Carmax over the years: an 04 Mustang GT, an 01 Cobra, a 98 TA, and an 02 WS6. I imagine there mighta been better deals to be had via private individuals, but I needed loans and had to buy from a major dealership. All 4 vehicles were in great shape, and the prices were right by kbb or nada ratings. I have been pleased with my purchases from them.

I have a friend that bought a c5 from them. He also had a good experience. The car was in great shape, he had no complaints or issues for the duration that he owned that car.

I would never buy a car from carmax, i have a friend that works at one and he says the stuff they do to sell a car is down right sketch.

The reason of my ? Is that there is a z06 on a local carmax and looks like good deal. Thank's for your opinion.

What? You mean they lie in their commercials? The hell you say, sir! A big corporation would never do that to the American public...

But really, any car reseller is going to fudge whatever they can. Carmax is likely no better or worse than any other big dealership. And frankly, individual sellers will try to do the same as well. Unless the seller is your best friend, you really never can be sure what's happened to the vehicle.

They should be willing to let you drive it to your preferred mechanic for an inspection. You might have to pay for a good all-point inspection, but that might help set your mind at ease.

I drove my 98 TA to 175k miles with very few issues, just the normal stuff like window motors and headlight motors, and the clutch went out towards the end. Otherwise was a very stable car. I didn't have the 04 GT that long, it was just a filler til I found the Cobra. I've now had the Cobra for 2-1/2 years and 30k miles, and the WS6 for almost 1 year and 15k miles. So far, so good on both.
