c5 horn honking
Hey guys, looking for advice or info from personal experiences.
Yesterday I was talking my 00 to get inspected and had to honk my horn. Shortly thereafter it started blaring on it's own at a stop light. Tap on the horn and it went away.
Fast forward to 4am and it just went off blasting until I made it out and pressed the airbag cover several times to silence it.
Has anybody else had a similar experience recently and solution? Searches have led me to believe a failing membrane and it's hard to believe that a 900 airbag replacement is the only option. Seen some DIY with an aftermarket membrane but not comfortable dismantling airbags.
Sure seems like a vehicle hazard and for a 62k car it definitely isn't overuse. I'm torn on taking it to the dealer and keeping the battery disabled is no solution.
Thanks,

Why not just unplug the horn, as a temporary solution?

That would be the temp fix I agree. And my inspection is good for the next year.guess the would be no drawonthe battery if the membrane is completing the circuit and the fuse is pulled
