c5 engine timeline?

could somebody walk me through what engines came in when? thinking about buying a c5 and the only thing i got [i think ] is the ls1 ran from from 97-01, then it was the ls2.[?] what about the z06 also. i dont know if i'll be looking as high as 04, but that depends what kind of deals are around.

Ls1 was 97-04 on base vette. the c5 z06 has the ls6 405hp.
C6 vette started in 05, base model had the ls2 and the z06 had the ls7. I beleive the 08+ base model vetts now use the ls3 and the z06 has the ls7 and zr1 has the ls9.

C6 2005-2012

2005-2007 LS2 in the base
2006- LS7 in the Z06
2008- LS3 in the base
2009- LS9 in the ZR1

I believe the 1999-00 was the FRC timeline. Fixed Roof Coupe. Got the look of the Z06 with the top, but not the price or LS6.

an FRC would be a prize but just in preliminary looking around thats not an easy thing to find. i might end up with a ZO6, or a drop top, but its too early to tell.

everybody has their personal preference. i like the look and the trunk of the FRC and vert [with the top up], but i dont need more performance than the basic car. now when i drive a Z06, i'll probably change that tune though.

Im exactly the same way. i like the frc and actually think the convertible with the roof up is dam sexy as hell. If I get a newer gen (from a c4) it will definitely be an 01 -04 vert.

i think i found my new baby. triple black 02 vert, m6, w/chrome c6 z06 wheels. its awfully quiet, but thats easily fixed.

alot of people do for get about that... would be kinda unique to own one.... espically since they were only made for a year with the 385hp....
