It's definately an upgrade over the base stuff. However, even if you get the base suspension you can always upgrade to the ZO6 swaybars and shocks...that's what I'll be doing.

Deffinitly get the z51 package. It handles much better than the base. And who wouldn't want the cross drilled rotors and better tires too?? For the price any real enthusist would order the z51 package if they can afford a new vette. Did I mention they also have a better tranny gearing? If you have lots of cash to mod then maybe you won't want it, but if you don't have the cash get the z51!

I own a base c5 and am looking to get a 2005 c6. I've never rode in a z51 package vette so i don't know the performance difference. I don't care about heated seats, satallite radio, etc. as much as perfromance. I want to get one for a reasonable price because I don'y have the cash to go aftermarket on the good stuff.

To bad you can't just get HUD and the Z51 package. I would even like cloth instead of leather. Deffinitly drive a Z51 before you buy a base C6 to see the difference. I'm saving up to get a C6 Z51 or a nice C5 Z06. Now if I'd win that lottery I'd be ordering the C6 Z06!!!

Haha I get asked this alot. My dad owns a business and i do the prototype design for certain products like that spin wheel I had in the anything goes forum that I couldn't figure out. I make decent money BUT I live at home, so I dont have that expense, I don't have to pay for gas, My parents and I all ride together in the company jeep. I also work 60 hours minimum, so the overtime definately helps and I own a pop machine here and that actually brings in a decent buck for just sitting there. I am a total cheapskate and a c6 is my focus, so I invest some money and then have my savings to put toward the car. Thank god my girlfriend isn't a high maintainance.

Think about what you're going to use the car for primarily. If you're planning on track days then Z51 is the way to go, but if you're planning on doing a lot of drag racing then just get the basic so you wont cry too much when you change it. I got the Z51 and just finished pulling all the shocks and putting in 12 way adjustable QA1's @$250 each so I can get better weight transfer on launches, but can still dial it in for street or track use. The brakes have already gone bye bye in favor of Wilwoods (rotors and six piston calipers).

I dont really race, I feel like im beating my car so I don't do that. But sometimes I have that urge to take tight turned back roads and I want a stable car. Also, street racing from rolls (hardly ever) are alot of fun. I dont mod cars and stock for stock I think the c5 z06 outperforms the c6. But I'm not 100% sure on a c6 or a z06 yet.

The C5 Z06 is a bit faster, but the C6 looks much better. I'd go with the C6 for the pop top.
