Talking 99 C5 intake and exhaust build

    Hey,
I finished the 98 Camaro headers and custom S.S. true duals all the way out this winter and I'm starting a project on my dads 99 C5 M6. He has a rear-end seal leaking and to fix that we need to remove the exhaust. So, because of that we are going to go ahead and do the whole thing...Lt headers, catback and intake.

    We are planning on installing:
-catback setup - Corsa #14111 Pace Car.
-intake setup - Vararam VRM-VR-B2 venturi setup (is it REALLY do 40hp? how is the fit/install?)

    Need ideas for:
-Long tube headers (good gains, fitment, ceramic coated) Kooks maybe?
-Do we need a new X pipe or can we reuse the existing?
    -O2 sensors?
    -Anything else i missed?

Any help you could give me on what worked for you, best results, best prices, ect.

    Thanks,
    Ray

The Vararam is one of the best CAI's out there but its not going to give you 40hp. Thats just marketing crap. Headers I would recommend LG Pros but ARH and Kooks are good also. Those are the top three used. I would get the x-pipe that usually comes with the headers. The stock H-pipe isnt that great.

    The name.

Seriously, LG's are made by Borla, Im not sure who makes the Kooks headers. Theres probably not a lot of difference between them. With a good tune they both should make about the same power.

Old Post. But Kooks don't fit worth a crap on C5's. Many Many owners complain about the installation process. I installed ARH 1 7/8 Headers on my Vette last year and they literally slid right in. Easiest to install.

I've heard good things about Vararams, but NO Cold Air Intake will net you 40HP, they are also a bit tricky to install I've been told. I went with the Zip Tie Mod (just google it) instead with an AMSOIL E/A Filter
    Need ideas for:
-Long tube headers (good gains, fitment, ceramic coated) Kooks maybe? Already mentioned my take on that header
-Do we need a new X pipe or can we reuse the existing? I'm sure you could have someone weld your headers to the factory H Pipe but why bother. The X Pipe flows better and will give a much better sound.
-O2 sensors? Might as well buy new ones
    -Anything else i missed?
If you're on a tight budget there is a Header from XS Power that is only 700 something for Headers and Off Road X Pipe.

You need to start your own thread in the FOR SALE section of the site. You also need to include pictures. This is a site rule. If you need help doing this, let me know.
