2000 corvette
is it normal for the coolant to go to 230 degrees?

Yes, I believe the stock fan temp setting for 2nd stage is 234 degrees or something like that. I never liked it when mine did that either.....went to a 160 thermo and tune.

I've never seen mine above 215. I'd make sure your radiator is clean. or replace the thermostat.

Well, the purpose for the 160 thermo is so that the car runs cooler instead of in the 200's. When I got my car tuned, the fans were programmed to turn on at lower temperature allowing for cooler engine operation

Make sure you crawl under there and clean out the radiator.The vettes front is like a hoover. I have been reading about changing the coolant every 35,000 or 3 years.I wouldn't trust the gm dexcool for lasting more than that.
