For most of us, the '78 movie Corvette Summer didn't quite hit the heights of some of the other movies that prominently featured cars, such as American Graffiti or Thunder Road or even Smokey and the Bandit. Even with the star power of Mark Hamill, fresh off his Luke Skywalker role in the blockbuster Star Wars, Corvette Summer was more like the kind of Saturday afternoon schedule-filler movie you'd tune across on one of the independent UHF channels enroute to some real entertainment like, oh, Roller Derby.

I was 13 or so at the time of the movie and liked it and the car back than, now I couldnt be seen in it. Was in a neighborhood this past summer, saw a red vette with similar rims, side pipes, modified headlights and aftermarket hood and the first thought in my mind was the movie. Caprice headlights in front, tin foil and egg cartons for the rear who would have thought. Effingham IL is a few hours away, if Im ever heading down that way I just may swing by to check it out.

i don't like moded corvettes, but this was a great movie for us corvette guys !! women and corvettes does not get any better, than that !!
