1971-1974 Chevrolet Corvettes - Remember When...

Thoughts From The Automotive Past by Doug MarionSince the V-8 Corvette was introduced in 1955, it has been synonymous with special high performance, both under the hood and under the tires. To most of us, "Corvette" truly defined the term. But the early '70s bought this all to a screeching slowdown.inline_mediumwraptextright00The '71 and '72 Corvette were much the same. Due to a 1969 labor dispute, sales were extended. Thus, '70 sales were shortened by four months. Hence, the '71 and the '72 Corvette were visual extensions (more or less) of '70. The '72 model was the last to have chrome bumpers, a removable rear window, and side front fender gills. Seen here is a new '73 with federal bumpers gracing the cover of Corvette News magazine, Chevrolet's in-house publication.29054023/thehistoryof/corp_1006_1971_1974_chevrolet_corvettescorp_1006_0 1+1971_1974_chevrolet_corvettes+.jpgtrue
