I felt I had sayed it here again and again,

4.11s can fit on stock rear end, but here the thing you have to consider, if want to keep your abs,and asr you need 4 channel posi, if you dont your spend that much you can go with a 3-channel posi but you will lose you asr but keep abs!

also are you doing the work yourself, if you did whitch I whould do cus them 10blot are a pain in the ass to work on,

so the thing you have to consider is cost
    Gears($350-550)
Posi($350-550), Install(if payed $550-1000), plus the spacers and clips and I whould put a a cover to make them blot stonger and cool looks

    VS.
fully built 12blot with every thing you need I got my 12blot with 3,73 Tru-Track posi 33 spline axels, and cover for $2500 plus $350 install

Is putting a 12blot more money.. yes if you add up the cost of rebuilding a 10blot you will see that the 12blot is just a few hunderd more, and you will have a badass rearend that you wont have to worry about Food For Thought!!

    3ch 4.10 gears are about $190 but he has a 4ch

and if your swaping out the rears, i would go with the 9in i just prefer it over the 12bolt

I can assume by ''posi" you are talking about 4 channel vs. 3 channel ABS? And I'm pretty sure you'd have to reprogram/replace the ABS control unit if you went from a 4 channel to a 3 channel ABS system.

You make some valid points about costs, but if the limited slip is still ok you don't neet to change that, so the cost of 4.10s is a lot more reasonable. People who make this change love it, I'd like to do it with my car.

A4 cars only had factory gears of 2.73 or 3.23.
If they still have the OE driveshaft, the 2.73 had a steel DS, the 3.23s had aluminum.

    Only M6s had 3.42.

The actual gears have NOTHING to do the the ABS or TCS so ignore all that nonsense . All we need to know is whether you have an auto or manual transmission and/or what gear ratio you currently have

Ok you already have a 3 series differential so regular 4.10s with fit just fine. But I think you may need to modify the center block or buy a paddle kit, because the 4.10 ring is thicker and covers up the hole where you slide the block in.

That's right, I forgot the tone ring is on the carrier, not the gear itself.

its has nothing to to with gears , yes , but if you want to retain your asr you need a 4 channel posi period.
