whoooosh air type noise.

So I can hear a rushing air type noise from 1800 through 2800 and get louder the higher the rpms go then suddenly stops at 2800. When first taking off it dies it once I go over 3k and does not come back until I down shit and engine revamp up to those rpms or i stop and take off again. I did empty the cats last week not sure if that would cause that but I don't believe that's what it is.

Does it only do it while driving, or can you have it in park/neutral and still hear it?

It stick shift does do it while standing still

Did it do it before you gutted the cats? If not, I'd venture to say that's the cause. If not, have you changed anything else recently?

I never really drove it b4 because it was burning up the cats when I got it so a tune up and cats are the first thing I did

Do you have the factory airbox under the hood? Or are you running a cold air intake? I only ask as if your intake bellows are loose or split, that could cause a vacuum leak and the noise you are describing. A cold air intake would cause a whooshing noise as it does away with the stock airbox.
