whining noise after car is shut off

i have a whining noise coming from the hood after I shut the car off. It slowly comes to a stop after something stops spinning. What can this thing be.

can be, the fans or the air pump. Best things I think of.

Might be your head light motor gear stripped.... it will make a plastic grinding noise when you turn the car off. see if the noise is coming from either head light.l

i had the grinding noise from the headlights and I know that one is not it. Im thinking its my air pump.

Pull the AIR PUMP fuse under the hood while it's making the noise...normally not running when the car is hot though.

so the air pump does not run after the car has been driven. the only time that I hear is when i get out of the car after it has been driven. If the air pump is only on while the car is warming up them that probably is not it.

if you had your AC on, its your condenser fan, no worries there.
