    whats with the ls1's ticking?

so do all ls1's have that usual ticking sound? My 02 trans am had the noise so i replaced lifters pushrods and rocker arms but it never went away. Now my 00 camaro has the same exact sound so i assume this is pretty usual? Do any of yall know what it is? is there a fix to it?

    It has a big wing!

Every LS1 I have had (4 of them, one of which new) has had mild ticking on cold start up and quickly goes away after about a minute..

After that,I just here the injectors clicking along... at least I hope it's the injectors!

It is piston slap. Most of them do it.It is not harmful to the engine and I wouldn't worry about it.

I read on here somewhere that gm had a quality control problem and most of the blocks had a slight overbore making the pistons on the loose side of tolerable but still acceptable.

Agreed. It's called the LS1 "sewing machine" tick.
