    Is this a Vette LS1?

We just bought an LS1 from another guys project that never was completed and are in the midst of installing it in a 1994 Jeep YJ and I'm going to start what will probably be many questions with this first one.
This motor supposedly came from an 02 Vette and only has 2,000 miles on it. While it may have more miles I'm more than happy with the condition and the deal but it came without fuel rail covers and it got me to thinking could it be out something else and how can I tell? It really doesn't matter in the long run but I do want to know and also if it came out of a camaro say, is there any real difference?

    Thanks for any help,
    Randy

did it come with a throttle body or intake on it? Vette's were all fly by wire so the throttle body won't have provisions for the throttle cable. That would be the easiest way to tell. It's late and my mind isn't working very well right now but most of the part numbers are the same so it'd be kinda tough knowing for sure. I *think* the exhaust manifolds are different too.

Oil pan, and throttle are the obvious ones, Camaro V8s never went to fly by wire

None of the f bodies had a drive by wire system*edited. So if it doesnt have a throttle cable, its most likely from a vette. Also, on the vette ls1's, they had the alternator located at the top of the motor. to the right of the intake (driver's side)

    My F-body has a throttle body ???

But yeah the main differences between the F-body and Corvette LS1 are
    *Oil Pan
    *Exhaust manifolds
    *Belt/Pulley layout
*Very slight difference in camshaft (or so I've heard)
*Intake manifold part number might be different but the intake itself is 99.9999% the same.

LOL, thats what I thought you meant
edit*some* V6's did have drive by wire as mentioned above, but all V8 F-bodies were cable.

Thanks all. Looks like it did come out of a camaro instead. I think this guy was just saying Vette to get more interest. For this project we didn't really care even if there was a HP difference as there is going to be plenty of that to go around.
I appreciate all the input. Looks like I lucked onto the right site!

You'll be happy to know that there isn't any horsepower difference between a F-body LS1 and a Corvette LS1. There are many dyno pulls to prove this. GM did say the vette made more horspower, but the dyno doesn't lie!
