    valve covers

I'm almost finished with my 383 ls6 and another problem has occurred. My roller rockers hit the valve covers more than a little strategic grinding can fix. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone know of covers that retain the stock coil positions but are taller? Is there such a thing as a cover shim? Any input is as always greatly appreciated.

Might be tight, if they are you might need to look into truck wires

Your stock wires will not fit. I would go with the MSD 8.5mm custom kit. You can build your own wires to the lenght you need and it is a nice upgrade from stock wires.

What roller rockers? If they're Harland Sharps or Scorpions, you should take them off now.

Harland Sharps are heavy (heavier than stock) and put unecessary stress on the valvetrain. Do a search on Tech, you'll find many horror stories about them...usually resulting in dropped valves and destroyed engines.

Scorpions have a tendancy to break. There was a member on here that had three different ones break.

There are plenty of 8 second track cars that are running stock LS1 rockers. I would suggest getting the Trunion Upgrade from Comp Cams though, Allows for a fuller range of motion and replaces the bearings that have a lot of miles on them.
