Turn signal lever crappy

Alright its a '99 Formula WS6 M6.
Does your firebird's turn signal switch feel like a stiff piece of crap that about to f**king break off everytime you try to use the T/signals or is it just mine? All the other GM cars I've ever driven have a nice, smooth, feeling t/signal lever. Just ranting and wondering if our F-bodies got the shaft on a cheap lever. Any fixes available???

GM has been using this same lever for a long time in alot of different cars. There is nothing wrong with it.

So I'm thinking that something is wrong with mine then. My '95 Blazer and wife '97 G. Prix have a nice smooth click. My firebird has a stiff snap to it. Its almost like you can't just reach over and flick it with your pinky finger, you have use your whole hand. Well thats a little exaggerated.
Anyone else have this problem? Or other opinions?

You are confusing me. All our f-bodies have a crappy t/signal switch and its normal? I can live with that if it true.

Yea, mine is the same way. Its hard to push. I gotta really push with one or two fingers and then it goes SNAP into place. Guess its normal.

Now that kinda pisses me off because of all the 25,000+ GM cars I've driven and worked on in the past 8 years, none of them have this stupid stiff t/signal switch. Of course I haven't worked on many f-bodies, maybe 3, and probablly never used those switches.

Ok, you got me kind of curious on this. I just went out and checked the turn signal levers on the TA, the wife's Pontiac Montana van, and my DD buick.

The van and buick had a positive engagement, not hard, but you needed to push a bit. the TA's turn signal lever was noticeably stiffer than the other two, but it had a very positive engagement. Felt ok to me. Consistant.

I use my middle finger to engage turn signals anyway. I'll bet if I used my pinky, it would be noticeably harder.

Yeah its noticeablly stiffer than any other car I've driven. Maybe I just being too grumpy today

I think I just used to the the Cadillacs I work on.
I work with a guy who has a 2000 V6 Firebird. Maybe I'll compare his to mine.

Maybe because it is a "Performance" vehicle? Its the only vehicle ive owned that has had a hard turn signal. Im going to just keep thinking its like that because its a bad a$$ car and if your a p**** and can't use the turn signal then you shoudnt be driving this MAN of a vehicle. hehe.

mine is the same way, i just hold it down (or up) usually, dont even engage it, then just let off it after i start turning. I just dont like the feel of it when I put it all the way on, it does feel like twig about to snap.

good, IMO i dont find nothing wrong with it becuase it will make you use more effort that way you wont be able to hang on to a cell phone or something. You know, something to keep us more focused on the road. with todays crap they are installing in cars its ridiculous sometimes is usefull but most of the time it makes the driver's lazy. I rather stick to effort than leffort.

i think it suits the car. our gear knobs are not easy to move either. the car has a mochoness to it like a koenigsegg. things like gas, brake, and konbs etc arent easy to flip and move like an import.

I never really put much thought into it but mine is stiffer than our other GM cars. No big deal though. Maybe that just means it's built stronger...doesn't have to be a bad thing necessarily.

Spray some electrical lube in there and BAM!!! Nice smooth motion that doesnt feel like its about to snap off.

The column in the fbody is nearly the same they have been using in all rwd cars since the 60's. If you buy an ididit or other aftermarket column it uses the same mechanism. It might feel like crap but it works.
