black- 2000 z28 conv.
turn off oil change indicator after start up.
How do u turn of the oil change indicator once the car starts? It stays on for a few seconds.
When I bought the car it did not come with manual. Also looking for a manual. I do change oil every 3000 miles. Oil is at right level.
My car is 2000 Z28 black conv. with a 5.7 liter auto trans.

Turn the key to RUN with engine off, push the TRIP/OIL RESET button on the dash for 12 seconds, the light will start to flash to confirm it's reset. You can also turn the key to RUN with engine off and depress the gas pedal 3 or 4 times and it'll reset without resetting your trip mileage.

Forgot, you can get a manual from a dealer, www.helminc.com or a pdf for free at http://shbox.com/pdf/manuals.html

the trip odo reset button won't do anything for the oilchange light reset on a Camaro. You need to do the gas pedal reset-turn key to on and press down and release the gas pedal within 5 seconds start to finish three times. The oil life calculator is a fairly accurate method for determining when to change oil IMHO-I use it .

Worked for me too. For some reason mine has only illuminated once since I've had the car (23K). Only thing I can think of is I've replaced the battery a couple times, or reflashing the PCM during tuning might reset it???

Black- 2000 Camaro SS
Holding down the trip/reset button like 2001NBMZ28 said, at oil change time, works for me.

OK-when I'm wrong I'll admit it-You apparently can do it both ways on a Camaro-the first tip off being the fact that it says trip/oil reset next to the button ('duh' at myself). At some point in early 1998 w/my first Camaro I reset it using the gas pedal method and never looked at it any other way. My only defense here is that I work on hundreds of different cars every year and don't always remember every thing about my own car. My Bad-let's move on (insert derisive laughter from audience here).

I have never tried the trip/oil reset button on mine for that purpose-how would you get it to just reset the oil life system and not the trip function?I'm looking in the owner's manual (factory service manual has nothing I can find on it)and it doesn't go into detail-this is getting more interesting.......... Anyone?

Normally the light on mine is always on when its oil change time. If i push the button it only makes it so its on for 5 seconds after restart. I have to use the pedal to reset it.
Dunno if ive tried holding it 12 seconds though... so maybe holding it that long completely resets it
