torx bolt on the a/c pulley

The a/c pulley on my buddies car is squeaking real bad however the bolt was seized and the torx bit stripped the bolt head. Does anyone have a good way to remove it. Sears said they didnt have anything to remove a stripped torx bolt.

There is no good way I know of to get it out. However, a lot of penatrating oil will help to loosen it. Then try a a hammer and punch. If you can get a hold of an inside edge you may be able to get it to break free. It works part of the time. Heat can help too.

You have a few options, Try one size bigger on the torx socket, or place a shop towel over the correct size and see if it will bite.
You may have to get a angled drill and drill it out. Left handed drill bits may just back it out, although you may have to purchase some spiral extractors.

I have lucked out before by beating the next size larger torx bit into the stripped head with a hammer. This may not work with a cheap bit as they are not as hard as something like a MAC or Snap-On. Just be careful you don't break whatever the bolt is installed in. Other than that, like SSOSS said, you made need to resort to a drill and an easy out.

I just warned another guy about that same bolt just a couple days ago. You might also be able to take a torx socket bit and weld it to the bolt and get it out that way, it might be a little bit easier than drilling it out.
