Throttle Body heater/vent hoses?
Hi folks,
Looking for some comments. I had a head/cam job done a few years ago at a local performance shop and didn't notice until today while removing and cleaning the throttle body that they removed the heater outlet hose and vapor vent hose and joined the two.....so bypassing the throttle body all together. So the hose from the rad goes direct to the vapor vent tube, leaving the two hose connections at the throttle body open.
Did they do this to possibly keep the throttle body cooler or what? Un-connected and open inlet openings on the throttle body don't seem right to me.
Do you guys think this is OK or should I re-install the hoses in the right places?
I would ask the speed shop but they have gone out of business with the bad economy :-(
Thanks!!

That heating is to keep the throttle body from freezing in very cold temps. They actually sell the bypass for ridiculous prices. If you're not concerned about cold temps, leave it - consider it an added performance upgrade.

I see you are from a little further north than most of us. DaddySS said it right though, unless you drive your car in cold damp weather the bypass should not pose a problem.

Thanks for the replies guys!
Being a convertible, I only drive it in warmer, sunny weather, so doubt I need it then.....just seems weird to see those two inlets on the throttle body open.
Is this really a performance upgrade then?
