Things to look for in 3800

Going to look at a 3800 firebird with a auto and 93k Miles, anyone want to give me a heads up on problems the car saw and what to look for? Thanks!

The number one problem is that its missing 2 cylinders...go get a V8.
Just kidding. The 3800 is a very reliable engine and you shouldn't have to many problems with it. Just check it over for leaks and maintenance upkeep (belts, hoses, plugs and wires, etc)

Keep an eye on your coolant level dexcool (if it has it) does'nt seem to like oxygen. Check for coolant leaks @ the front of the intake mani gasket. I run delco iridium plugs, and changed to 5w30 from the manufacter called for 10w30. 5w30 seems to allow the engine to run cooler say between 10-20 degrees cooler.. Other than that should be good 2 go.

Do your best to make sure its not eating or leaking coolant the 3800 is known for manifold gaskets and they are a royal pain to change.
