    Thermostat

So, I was advised about 6 months back to get a 160 degree thermostat. He said it would be great for the engine. Me being relatively new to this I said ok and got one. He put it in and I have noticed the car running a little hotter than before. Not hot by any means. Just hotter than before.

So au friend of mine buys a programmer for his 35th and says the first thing that popped up when he plugged it in was about changing the thermostat temperature. Seems crazy to me. I personally have never used one but have seen a programmer on other cars.

Question is, how the hell do I get this working? Do i really have to program that in? To me that says the thermostat is on an eletric signal that tells it to open when it reaches a certain temperature. everythig I have read about this says that there is a type of wax that begins to melt and a rod then pushes into the wax causing the door to open. Which one of these theories is correct? The programmer one or the wax or neither and I'm way off?
Suspension: Lower control arms (Spohn), Drive shaft safety loop, Torque arm (Edlebrock), Strut tower brace, Panhard Bar (BMR)

Under the Hood: Smooth bellows, Lid, Catch can, LT Headers, ORY, AIR/EGR delete, Poly engine/transmission mounts,

Exterior: Painted brake calipers (Red), Halo “Spyder” Headlights w/matching parking/turn signals (Black)

The programmer is used to turn the fans earlier.

If it is running hotter, you may have some air in the system.

When the engine is cool, remove the radiator cap and run the car for a few minutes to let the trapped air escape from the cooling system.

Ok. Should i get a programmer to set the fans to come On earlier or does that matter? After i get the air out, will the thermostat actyally keep it cooler?

If you don't set the fans, it won't run any cooler, unless you are on the freeway. Get them programmed.

Dont buy a handheld. I know we can make and get custom tunes from a trinity or predator. But the software costs too much. And is not worth a thing. HP tuners is cheaper than EFI live. So i say go that route
