The temp sensor works by varying resistance in correlation to engine temperature. The sender needs a good ground connection to the engine block or head (whatever it is installed in) in order for it to work. As long as your gauge also has power and ground connections, connecting the sender wire should result in a reading. Does it do anything?

Are you plumbing in a separate oil pressure sending unit, or are you attempting to interface with the stock sender?

sorry for taking long to reply back,,,, thanks for the help jeff,
im using a separate sending unit for the fuel pressure, on the temp sensor i plug it in but nothing reads, the ground and power are already connected, the signal wire is also connected, im using a sandwich plate adapter on the oil filter for both sensors,
but still doesnt read anything.. gauge all the way up, then go back to zero..
cant figure out what im doing wrong

Check your connections with a DVOM or analog volt gauge to verify power and ground.
