    TBI / Vortec Blocks....

My '96 1-ton has a rod thru the pan, I have a complete 91 TBI motor, If the block is machined to accept roller lifters, I can use the 91 shortblock, to fix the 1-ton...

My Question is this: Where is the casting number??

on the rear driver side of the block, behind head, adjacent to bell housing,
    Mine says:

    GM 5.7L G
    SG1

But the casting no. isn't there....

Most blocks after 87 should be machined for the roller setup. Look in the valley for the 4 bolt bosses that hold the lifter retainer spider.

^^ I'm aware of that, Just didn't want to open a complete motor for no reason, the casting HAS to tell you if it is or isn't.
