Steering Column DIff A4 vs M6
What, if any, is the difference in steering columns between the A4 and M6?
Is there a difference in the steering column with and without radio controls in the steering wheel?

any one, any one, any one awake, tryptophan is an urban myth, not gunna make you sleepy.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has needed to put in a new steering column or wanted radio controls.

lights up red? I don't get it, and yes I am dense or maybe I just don't drive enough at night.

Black- 2001 Trans am 6sp.
I'm not sure what years are like this, but usually the auto cars have to be put into park to get the key out and the m6's don't.

Ah yes I do recall this. It's not often i pull into the drive way and shut off before hitting park, but you're right about not getting the key out until you are in park.

I gotta a diff...
99 My A4 had some kind of cable hooked up the the column and bolted to the big elec connector
Any one know what this is? I runs down the left side under the carpet somewhere, not through the fire wall.
Could this be the hood release cable?
thanks

Probably locks the steering wheel when in park. I am not sure if it is hooked to the shifter or tranny somehow if it is.

I have both a 6 speed and an auto 4th gen.
The steering column itself is different between mine. The 6 speed car requires you to push a small button down with your thumb to remove the keys,,,,where as the automatic columns don't have this button, they just require the shifter to be put into park.

yeah i noticed that right away. The only other diff I could find was this mistery cable that attches to the lower column at the big blue connector. since it goes under the carpet i haven't taken the time to dig for it.
I just took my connector off and swapped with the replacement column. It doesn't look like this cable was meant to be removed.
