SS wont shut off?/.,!% HELP

What would cause a camaro ss to keep running after you shut the key off???? You can turn the ignition off and it keeps running like you never even shut the car off, I have changed the electrical part of the ignition under the dash mounted to steering column, i am at a loos here, has anyone else had this problem, its usually a no start problem ask about but leave it to me to ask the unussual question.......

I thought about that but the rod is moving and there is nothing electrical to cause that in there is there?

My friends did this about 2 weeks ago. He shut off the key and the motor shut off but kept cranking, like it was still running but at a very slow speed. Finally we got it tuned off and smoke started pouring out from the passenger side, so after it clears and cools down we chec the fluids and nothing was leaking (thoght it might have been the freeze plugs...?) Then we looked at the starter and saw that it was completely fried, like it caught on fire...

I think the starter is fine because i can shut it off by pulling fuel pump fuse, and then it will start back up, and it runs fine, i guess there is some wires melted together somewhere just dont know where??????

check all your powers and grounds. you're right, you might have a short to somewhere that keeps her alive

If you got a buddy close by try swapping out the alternator.

would that cause all the lights in the dash to stay on like the key is on? I can pull the ecm fuse under the hood and everything will work like suppose to (i guess?)
