Spark Plug Help
I just changed my plugs today, had NGK TR55's switching to Iridiums just so I don't have to change plugs as frequently.(just being lazy)
The plugs were last changed when I had my headers installed, everything for the most part seemed ok, did have a detonation issue while getting tuned up around 5k RPM, maybe I just found my answer to why.
While changing the plugs I found the rear drivers side plug was loose, I put the socket on the plug and was able to remove it by hand no wrench needed. The plug is covered in crap, sticky brownish black. Could this just be from the plug being loose allowing air/fuel to escape through the threads?
Hopefully not bigger issues, a rebuild is not in the current plans.00 Artic White Formula - Pacesetter LT headers, Hooker ORY, LS6 Intake, UMI SFC, STB, PHB, Lakewood DSL, ACDelco Iridium plugs, MSD wires,SLP Fowpac, Magnaflow Quad-tip Catback

Thats the effect of having a plug thats loose. Nothing to worry about, Just ensure that the plugs you instailed are good and tight and you will be fine.

Thanks for the reply, thats what I'm hoping for.
Since its one of the easier plugs, I'll pull it after I put some miles it to verify.
Thanks

wow, you're lucky that didn't blow out of there and strip the threads on the head.

Is it possible the loose plug could have been the cause of detonation when I was getting tuned?

It is possible, since you were getting a misfire it could have also acted the oposite by puddling in that cylinder and then by chance it would fire, Depending on how far the plug was backed out would also cause it.
