    spark miss

need help everyone and would appreciate it. i have 02 firehawk with only 20,000 miles that i havent had for long. seems like whenever the car gets washed i get a missfire at low rpms. a missfire on #7 code came up once and went away. the misfire doesnt last long. then the other day i had a slight missfire at start up and had been sitting for about a week and lasted a couple miles but no codes. the car is always garaged. if it needs plugs and wires please any advise on brands would be great. im stumped on this one

I too have this problem if I use a car wash and have been able to make it do it when washing at home. Seems like a hard spray toward the hood off of the windshield will cause it. I have also had it do it when comming to a stop in a hard rain, worse if I have to stop quick. Like the op said just a few seconds of a miss and hardly ever sets a code.
And for the noisy pump folks mine sounds like an airplane flying over. Started at around 120,000. Now sits on 252,000 but have not changed it yet. Just add the MM oil every other tankful or so and pump quites a good bit. Tried the 2 cycle oil and it did not work as well. But still use the 2 ounces to 10 galllons of gas when not adding MM oil. Car still runs strong and besides a battery and one water pump and two window motors car has been problem free. Oh had to do the vats by-pass. Still call her" bad hay" cause she is a real pony killer. The look on their faces when the 13 year old car blows by, "Priceless"...

Spark plug wires will cause it to misfire if atmosphere around car is wet check wires for cracks or replace if it happens only when high water saturation is present.

Did this before and after two different wire replacements. Never opened the hood to look but feel that its pcm related. Something getting wet. But you are right wires will cause this when they go bad. Night time and a mister will tell.

I had this problem, Y2KPewterSS helped me solve it. It was injector O-rings. When the water washes under the hood, it can pool over the injectors. If you have a not-so-good seal, it can allow water to seep into your engine. I would check this ASAP

One of the problems is hood weatherstripping is just a few clips. No real seal against the plastic cowl. Always thought about a bead of silicone under it to stop water from entering there.
