Someone backed into me, need help..

ok does anyone know where to buy car paint? I was backed into and had to replace my fender but i dont know where to get the right paint? can i go to the dealer and get the paint from the vin? but the car is a 99 and im sure the paint faided.
is there a place that can get paint mixed for me ?
I live in chicago by the way so if anyone knows of campanies that do this please help. any info would help

well your best bet is take it too a body shop, it shouldnt cost too much just too have it painted, the real money is the acutal labor for body replacement pieces.
What they will do is take the code off of your door or in your console and then they will mix it up then they will add different chemicals too make it look faded kinda deal and then apply and it should match close enough that you wont even be able too tell.

Around here a couple of the O'Reilly parts stores mix paint, just need the code from the build sheet and they'll even help you find that. Chances are if you look in the phone book you'll find plenty of places that sell the paint.

What color is it? Reds fade quite a bit more than blues.

The Urethane paint that was used on your car is fairly easy to master but by the time you buy everything it'll be cheaper to just have it done - not to mention all the time involved. You'd need the base coat, the additive for use on flexible areas, catalyst, clear coat & catalyst, reducer, lots of masking material, a sprayer and compressor proper for urethane paints, extremely fine grades of sandpaper from 400 to 2000, rubbing and polishing compounds.

eh, i just took it to maco. the whole thing cost me 194$ plus 160$ for the fender
