    Unhappy smoking after PCV install

When I bought my car it had no PCV set up just a breather in the valve cover, the valve covers were linked together by a hose.
This is an LS1 car with a Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake and I recently installed Holley valve covers.

I tied the passenger valve cover spigot to the SLP intake lid for a fresh air source. The Edelbrock has a vacuum spigot on the back but the brake booster is hooked up so I decided to drill and tap a fitting on the driver side of the intake for a PCV setup. I tied this into the driver valve cover spigot with an inline PCV that Holley recommended.

After I went for a test drive the car started smoking real bad so I took it home right away. The check engine light would flash once the rpm went up and the air fuel gauge was jumping up and down.

    What the heck.

How the factory does it is both heads flow into the intake.

Edelbrock-plenum.jpgThe Edelbrock has a valley pan cover and there is no port for the throttle body like the stock setup.

Pressure build up causing a leak possibly? Have you checked for any oil leaks in the engine bay?

No leaks. I am going to try a fixed orifice PVC with a catch can so if that cures it.

The fixed orifice should help. Are you running a high volume oil pump? You could be pushing too much oil on top of the heads and that is getting sucked into the lines. The stock PCV setup on our engines isn't all that good. Catch cans are almost a must to keep the intake from getting oiled down.

As a temporary fix, simply reinstall an aftermarket breather if you need to drive the car. I'm not sure what kind of PCV provisions a set of aftermarket rocker covers would have... but they have to be better than the stock setup.

The one from the stock cover won't work I need a screw in 1 5/16" style. I'm going to order one up today. Not.much driving time left here in the north need to get back on the road.
