    SLP Line Lock Question

I've read on here that the instructions for the SLP Line Lock are incorrect. Something with the 2 break lines on the instructions are incorrect.

Anyone that has one could you tell me if it is true or if there is something else?

Did you already buy the line lock? If not, I love my SMJ unit.

If you already did, can you post pics of the kit and the instructions (if you want to retype them here, be my guest )?

"back when " (11-12 years ago) I bought my SLP line lock the inst. which came with the unit at that time did show the 2 line connections to be reverest, a short time later SLP corrected the inst. If you think you have the wrong inst. call SLP and ask
    http://www.slponline.com/contact_site.asp
if you can not get the correct info pm me and I will go to the shop and look at my unit ( yep - still going strong)
below is a few suggestions which may help you with install.
    good luck Johnny

PS:: I did find a note ( in my old notes which I hope will help you

"also the picture from SLP is UPSIDE DOWN install with the wire connection UP "

I have uesd 4-5 years, ( now some 11-12 years )still works great, when applied my front tires have never moved

    LINE LOCK INFO

IS hole behind pcm , but I drill hole beside steering colum also ( drill from inside out ) put a peace of rubber hose in hole ran wire inside hose, then use same type wire wrap as GM,tie wrap to the big rubber hose comming over master cyl
I also mounted switch in ash tray
I have used this unit for 4-6 years with NO problems ( well yes one problem :::SLICK tires )

PS ::Connect brake line to master cyl and line lock ,the second line which goes to ABS block start it but leave it loose, remove cap from master cyl and let the lines grivity bleed watch the loose connection untill all air is out and run pure fluid ( may shake the line a little to help bleed ( REMEMBER BRAKE FLUID WILL REMOVE PAINT
I placed plastic sheet over fender)if does not gravity bleed blow into master cyl and have some one watch for fluid at ABS block >>>THIS way you do not have to bleed the brakes from under car- I had no problem of any kind
also the picture from SLP is UPSIDE DOWN install with the wire connection UP
Sorry for the long post, hope it helps

I had no problem installing mine a few years back. Here's a pic with the line routing clearly shown:

Only issue I had was the self-drilling screws for the bracket as there isn't a whole lot of room to work. I used a nice long collection of extensions chucked into my drill.

So this looks like it's a couple hour job, right?

Jeremy it was a gift from my kids so I can't take it back.

SS SLP2 I know about break fluid eating paint. I have a spot that looks like one of the previous owners had an issue on the drivers fender well that I have to someday fix.
I also plan on flushing my break lines anyways because I have no idea when the last time they have been service. So I;m going to flush them with new fluid then install the line lock that way I know I have good fluid.

Jeff thanks for the pic it gives me an idea on how it should look.

    Many Thanks to you all.

Just a note -- there is a sticky in General Help on running wires through the firewall on the driver side in case you want to avoid crossing over the engine bay to the access under the PCM.

not a couple hours worth of work......half hourish maybe to an hour. My instructions were wrong but it's such a straight forward install it's not that big a deal. I didn't even bleed my brakes....just gravity bled them through the line lock to the abs block.

I was planning to do that.

Thanks I figure it would take a little longer because of running the wiring.

there's just one wire and you can use the stock grommet on the passenger side behind the glovebox. Just poke a coat hanger through the side of that grommet and tape the wire to the other end. Pull it through and you're done.

Looks like you are squared away. Where are you mounting the switch?

Jon - Going to mount it at the ashtray. Just order the 2 switch plate from Roger (Emblem Pros). I plan on a cut out very, very soon so I just plan for the switch when I ordered it.

    Thanks Orion.

Looks like it (Line Lock) will be here tomorrow, had to wait because of shipping delays. I hate waiting on the

Line lock is in and tested.

Very fun gadget to have. Only downside I see is that it's going to get expensive soon with tires

I'll post pics later, it got to dark to take any good ones.

Gravity bled was easy no issues.

Only issue I had was some Jackass didn't use document protectors on the instructions so they bonded with the sticky plastic and I could only read half of them. Thanks for the pic Jeff it helped more then the directions.

Line lock is second only to the cutout in my favorite mod list. I know what you mean... I have exercised great restraint and only used it 3 or 4 times on the street. Really looking forward to the day when I decide the tires are in need if replacement -- going to get some good pics.
