dang, I used to have a link to how to get the radio unlocked and the link is no good now. I'll dig around and see if I can find it.
I'm pretty confused on this pop thing......so is it coming from the rear of the car because you say tailpipe?

so does it pop when you let off the gas and get on the clutch? If so what catback are you running? Sounds like it could be just normal exhaust pop from a free flowing catback. Does it do it more when the car is cold?

could it be your exhaust hitting the floor board? is it a "feel" kind of pop or an audible one?

as for the lid popping off, I solved that on mine by trimming down the length of the smooth bellows by 1/8" on one side. The bellows is too long. When the engine rocks in it's mounts, it will pop the lid off.

Ok I'm trying to remember how this works
Ok so you press 2&3 until the first 3 number code appears (ex. 258)
then press AM/FM and the second 3 number code appears (ex. 147)
Now you have a 6 digit code for the 1-800 # (ex. 258147)
Now call the 1-800 number and get a 4 digit unlock code (ex. 0720
use the HR button for the 1st 2 digits (ex. 07, it'll just show 7)
use the MN button for the 2nd 2 digits (ex. 20)
Press AM/FM button to enter the code and unlock your radio
