    Slow Starting??

Last week or so, I have noticed the car engine turns over a little longer than usual before starting/firing. Thought maybe the battery was a little weak, so had it tested including the charging system & everything tests fine.

Could it be the fuel pump or something else in the fuel delivery/ignition sytem?

Wouldn't that throw a check engine light or something?

    Thanks!

could possibly be your injectors, try some injector cleaner or something of the sort...just out of curiosity, what octane are you running?

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

my bird does the same thing. it started off as a minor delay but its gotten worse. i'm gonna check the pressure and i'm hopin thats it or the fuel pressure regulator and not the pump.

I did the injector cleaner a couple of months ago, but this problem has popped up more recently & seems to be getting worse. One of the reasons I don't want to wait too long, is that it is the wifes' car & I prefer to not have her broke down somewhere. The other is the local dealership has a bunch of morons working there & I've heard too many bad stories about them, so I take the car to the nearest one which is 35 miles away.

Am taking the car tomorrow to have the fuel system cleaning service (includes cleaning the injectors; fuel rail; pressure regulator) & the service manager said they could check the pressure from the fuel pump.

Hopefully this will fix it or they'll find something out & I'll post the results.

Try checking/replacing your pcv...it's a long shot but ya never know. When I installed my catch can across the whole engine bay it didn't fire as fast...i'm guessing it's because it takes a sec to build up vacuum. The pcv should rattle when you shake it...

Well, I got the bad news & it was the fuel pump, which I had ordered & had installed. It was easy for them to check as all they had to do was check the fuel pressure, & sometimes it would not hold up. That is why it would start OK sometimes, & other times slow start.

Went ahead & had them clean the injector & swap the fuel filter.
