Skip shift questions...
1. Is there any skip shift eliminator that you can install without going under the car?
2. Is there a particular brand I should get, or do they all work the same?
Thanks.

I would think if you can find the particular wires that run to the transmission for the CAGS then you could cut them and place the 2200 ohm resistor across the wires running to the pcm. A wiring diagram might show you which these are. You may then find them behind a kick panel or in the bundle leading directly to the pcm from the firewall.
It is so much easier to lift the car on one side, find the Dexron III sticker on the transmission, unplug the connector, insert resistor and tape it all up but you must have a good reason for not being able or wanting to get under the car.

414 RWHP 395 RWTQ- 00 Black Ram Air Trans Am
$30 product from a sponsor which eliminates it, or .99 cent resistor from Radio Shack which does require you to get under the car and pull a plug out.

Ther use to be Free Mod links on this site way back that showed how to due the resister mod. I bought 6 resisters for 49 cents back in `99 did 3 cars with it including my own and have never had a problem since. Takes 5 min once you get the Car up.

So, a few people mentioned a hand held tuner. I have the Hypertech PP3, but they don't make any mention of "skip shift" in the manual. Maybe I'll give them a call after the holiday, unless someone knows for sure that it won't work.

Don't think HPP3 will do it, but haven't used one in years.

I just looked at the Hypertech PP3 ads and they don't list CAGS as one of their options.

I coughed up the $30 to RKSport about 5 years ago and haven't had a problem since. It gives you a weatherpack OEM type sealed conection. By all means if you still have skip shift hooked up-get rid of it. I couldn't stand it-even though I only drove with it for a month or so.

Bought a kit from ebay and it turned out to be the .59cent resistor and one page of instructions which I later found I could get off install university.Git a little pissed whenever I think about it,but hey, didn't do my homework on the subject. And love the way it drives now!
If you don't want to get under the car I think the only way is to turn it off with a tuner and since I just installed a Hypertech III,I know it won't do it.
