    SES light

Has anyone had a light come on and had it scanned and come up with no codes to tell you where to start looking?

Who/what was used to scan it? '95 is OBDI with OBDII port. Parts stores can't scan it.

2001. Don't know what was used to scan it. I'm just trying to think about what I could be facing. I go to look at the car tomorrow. It doesn't scare me but I just hope that it can actually be fixed. The owner says it's been to the mechanic and they can't find anything wrong. I was just curious if it's possible for a SES light to come on but when scanned not throw any codes.

That's interesting. I don't know if I would believe the seller. I would have him take you in the car to Autozone or Pepboys and have them scan it with you there. Just an idea.

Usually a SES light is emissions related or something like a vacuum leak. Flashing SES light means the car is misfiring; bad plugs, wires or a vacuum leak.

    Keep us posted.

It could be your gas cap not sealing.

Last Friday my SES light came on, took it to Autozone - no joy on codes, went over to Advance (because they will let me delete codes) ran it again on their scanner and the EVAP code popped up. I told them what happen at Autozone and he told me depending on the scanner it varies on if they can read the EVAP code or not. I cleared it and been fine since.

I bought a scanner and ran the codes on a car I was looking to buy. It was the O2 sensors. I didn't buy it but that wasn't the reason. Figured why not get a scanner in case I end up aren't cars with dash lights on.
