service engine soon!
So this is a long story, In September of 2007 I got an exhaust cut out put on at speed inc. The next day I was leaving my house to meet a bunch of friends to go to great lakes dragaway. I backed out of the driveway and boom The cutout had bottomed out on my driveway and It got smashed so I am now unable to put the cutout plate back on. I drove to the strip and raced like 8 times then the ses light came on. My friend has a scanner and checked the code it said o2 sensor malfunction blah blah blah. The cutout is still open. The light is still on. Should I change the sensor now or wait till I get my new exhaust? Also is there any damage that can be done having the cutout open for months like this? loss of back pressure? thanks any info you can give me would be appreciated!

I ran my cutout open for ~2 years straight. What was the actual code you got? Do you still have cats? Probably just coincidence that it threw the code after bottoming out unless you hit hard enough to mess the sensor up or break the weld around the bung or something like that.

Post the code if you can but if your getting a code for the 02 sensor then i would swap it out. Where is your cutout? Like said above i also ran my cutout for a about a year with no issues.

sensor 2 are the rears and since your cats are gutted that's why you got the code. Bank 1 is drivers side and bank 2 is passenger side. You'll have to get the codes removed with tuning software or just look at a SES light all the time.
