    security system distance

Hi. 98 TA 92k miles. I just started noticing that I have to get closer to deactivate my alarm with the alarm transmitter. I replace the battery but no luck. I have another transmitter and is the same. Any ideas on how to improve the range or all these cars have the same issue? Thanks.

Replacing the battery is about the only thing you can do. Theres alot of factors that come into play, Ie: Distance, Direction, Obsticals etc etc.

it is not all these cars, it is all cars.

electrical components get dirty and wear out from heating up and cooling down. If your key has anti theft chip in it, why worry?

Is this an aftermarket alarm or are you talking about the factory keyless entry remote

Is the factory one. I just had other cars that the range with the transmitters is alot better. I was just wondering if its normal for tghese cars or maybe I'm having an issue. Most of the time I have to be like 5 feet from the car to be able to use it.

I found that I can just about double my range by touching the transmitter under my chin with the buttons facing the car & pushing the unlock button.

(I know.....sounds really wierd, but it works for mine)

The factory keyless entry should be good for about 30 feet.
