Rippled exhaust piping??
well today i changed the oil in my camaro...and just happened to notice for the first time was my pipe coming off the passenger side exhaust manifold going to the cat is just rippled like crazy....all sorts of little bends and ripples in it like it got chewed on by a pair of huge pliers or something....is this a possible sign that my passenger side cat might be starting to clog and causing this pipe to distort from the heat? or am i just over reacting about this? thanks in advance

it sounds like cheap piping to me but if you can get a pic of it we could tell more.

Crip-bent pipes FTL. The ripples with be the FIRST things to rust out.

but the thing is i just noticed it within this last 3k for my oil change...i always give every thing a thorough look over under neath while im there, and never noticed it before. and bam now i have a messed up pipe....no machines have been under it to crimp it or anything like that, as i do all my own work anyways..just im stumped over this. like i mentioned before al i can think is maybe the passenger side cat might be getting clogged????

im not gonna be tooo worried about it as im ripping it all out for long tubes and ridding the cats next month....but still weird how it would do that...that pipe would have to get damn near red hot to distort like this....

Does look kind of odd. I've had our car in the air a whole bunch and do not remember the downpipe looking anything like that.

yeah i dont scrape or bottom out anyways, and if i did the ground effects would be ripped off before the exhaust would even hit hard enough to do damage anyways

That is strange looking. I would have to suggest you hit something but it really does not look like that kind of issue.
I think you should fix it by installing a set of Long Tubes with an ORY. Problem solved

if i hit anything it would have left marks, and would be on the rest of the piping. but the drivers side is free from distortion, along with the y pipe and the cat back.....

Yes if you hit something it would of left crease marks those are ripple marks common in internal rust. you Aren't the only one when i took my stock exhaust off with 2k miles the car driven a couple of times in delaware and somehow driven on the road in the winter with salt on the roads some how there were rust in the piped right before the cars but not anywhere else on the car if u get a new exhause then bam problem fixed or sooner or later the exhaust will fall apart. these exhausts tend to have internal rust where they seem to be driven on the roady when theres snow or heavy rain i also have a friend that is ina car club with me that has had his SS with cut outs and you can actually see the rust in his stock pipes when he drove it over from Panama and its holding up just fine dont Sweat it unless you want a better sounding exhaust that is

I work at an exhaust shop. Your pipe is just fine, the stock piping is double walled adn those crimps are partially from bending and partially for holding the insulating material in between the two layers. I get people in my shop at least once a month with this exact same question.
