Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
Rip ls1
It finally happened. My engine blew up.
I haven't yet really investigated yet, all I know is that my #5 spark plug had chunks taken out of the tip, it ran like total $#%* after a tune up, I heard a soft knock, knock, knock then KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK, bang, BOOM, seize. She's puking oil out of the back of the block.
SO! Does anyone have an LS2/LS3 or LSX swap in their car?
I'm thinking go bigger without doing as many modifications and will be a slow process with work and such.

It's okay. It was bound to happen ... I just wish it wasn't in my personal, daily driven car, lol

I'm trying like hell to wait till I do a cam & heads. I'm wanting to do a head and cam (MS3 or MS4) with LS2 timing chain & LS6 oil pump and then do 243 or 5.3 heads. I thinking I could do the cam and TC w/OP and then go back for the heads later. I know I won't get full benefits from the cam until I do the heads. But to do the work (doing a OP & TC, then do the C/H later) and pay for a tune (if I do cam first then heads later) twice makes me get a headache. It's been hard to save for my hood, $2500 seems a long way off. plus the rear.....AAAGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Thanks guys. I had 119k on the clock, but 7k on the engine since I rebuilt it back in '09. LAME. The part that sucks the most is that it was running better than my mom's 2010 Malibu not even a month ago and getting phenomenal gas mileage (surprisingly). I'm working on a deal with some friends for a new engine right now
Sidenote, I put in a new oil pump, new timing gear, new timing chain, the works ... I think something snuck in my engine when I wasn't looking and wreaked havoc on it's insides

Steph...have you thought about an LS6 swap? Swap the LS6 in with the goods you already put on the LS1? Just a thought. Check the valve spring, rocker, and valve itself. A valve could have bent/snapped and got smashed between the piston and spark plug. Keep us posted.

I'll know the details soon pertaining to the LSX454 ... the way I see it, go big or go home! My first thoughts were LS6 but as of today, I want to go bigger without as many mods but still more powerful than what I had before. I should start tearing it down next week *hopefully* ... one of my friends up in Detroit wants me to document the entire rebuild process so I'm going to start a "blog" and do it that way, it should be fun

Hey...if it can fit in an HSV GTO, then it should fit in an F-body. I just don't know if a FAST 102 intake/throttlebody would clear the cowl. But...there is ALWAYS a way.

Ed - I'm going to post it up here too ... or I may just be lazy and link it to my profile on here. I'm building the blog right now. It'll probably be a long process.
Goat - Bigger cowl
Knight - FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I should post up a picture of the last FBody with a Procharger I dealt with, it looked like someone sent a piece of steel thru a wood-chipper!

If anyone cares to follow the rebuild & swap of my LS1, I made an online blog so I can post pictures/videos/reviews ... I'll more than likely start a thread on here too LSwut ... im just waiting on our lift to be installed now. I've been playing hot potato with all the cars I've been borrowing since she blew up, haha
