Replaced fuel pump and now gage is inop

I have a 98 ws6 that i replaced the fuel pump on with a new gm pump. After installing it my gage quit working. I took it back out and manually moved the float and still nothing. I got another new pumpasm and hooked it up and same thing. Anyone ever heard of this or can give me any ideas? Thanks tom

Think i have it narrowed down to 2 bad modules. Hooked up the old pump and gage work perfect. Gonna get a new one on tuesday and try it again. Thanks

Agreed. Very frustrating. Let us know if this fixes it.

"New" stuff and it either doesn't work, or you need another part to GO with the "new" stuff. Know the feeling.

Actually, it's interesting that we both have the entry year of the LS1 F-body (98') and I'm noticing how more and more of my gauges and little electric gremlins keep popping up...almost 20 years old our cars are! Lol...heck their from the last Century! Lol...

I would pop the connector back by the tank, locate the sender wires, and then check the ohm reading to see if you have a legitimate reading or if the circuit is open.

Install the old fuel sender onto the new pump just take your time doing it.Did you drop the tank or do the trap door method?

I have a 98 TA and replaced my pump with a Racetronics 255lph. Didnt have any issues at all. I did the "trap door" mod though. Just incase I need to access it again it will only be a 20 min job!!

Although I swore I would never cut a hole in our car, when it came time to replace the fuel pump I also went with the trap door. I'm glad I did as I then had some issues with the fuel pressure regulator after the fact and ended up pulling the pump 4-5 more times to get it all straightened out.

What happens there are little fingers on the sender and the 98 have a metal tank with baffels inside you have to install the pump just at the right angle or the float hits the side and damages the sender.
