rear o2's = long term fuel trim?
I removed the rear o2's when I installed my headers, and I was planning on getting them tuned out. But I was just told that I needed the rear o2's because they regulated my long term fuel trim and helped the car adjust itself.. And that if I took them out and changed climates or altitude the car would not run properly and would sputter and act funny.
Is this true?

I just installed headers and not having the rears made the fuel mixture bout 11 to 1. Just had them tuned out and the fuel curve adjusted and everything is fine. I believe for the most part they are there just to monitor the cats.

then why is he telling me to get a bung installed on the headers and put them back in? he keeps telling me that they regluate the long term fuel trim and help the car adjust itself.. if that's not true, then what would they be reading in the cats?

rear o2s only verify if the cats are within parameters. if the front and rear o2 numbers are too close together, the PCM will add fuel to try and see if the front o2 numbers go up and the rears stay lower.
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

he's talkin about the front o2's if he says something about putting a bung on the headder, cuz he rears would go in the piping

thanks lethal, you always give me good advice lol..
Ok so the rear ones only monitor the cats? I don't need them if I don't have cats, right?

haha exactly how i feel.. my friend is a genius when it comes to his car, his corvette.. fastest car i've ever seen... but there is a FEW things that I know when it comes to my car..
I mean we have similar cars but there are some differences, and every once in a while I will be able to prove him wrong, solely from what i learn on here

that's the number one reason you should get a couple of books and buy a good set of tools. There's really nothing on these cars you can't learn. There's some lessons learned the hard way such as breaking the oil sensor removing the intake or having the rear twist as you're dropping it and almost dragging the front off of the ramps but there's really nothing on these cars you can't learn. It's also nice having this site here so you can ask questions. I remember when I first bought my car I was looking around the city for someone to do headers for me because there was no way in hell I could do it......fast forward a few years later and I've had 90% of that car tore apart including heads/cam. Just have to dive in and it helps if you have a daily driver so you don't have to worry about getting to work for a few days.

Yeah I know what you mean.. I'm learning a lot having this car, it's my second car and I've only been driving for around a year now, so there's still a lot to learn.. I pick up on things pretty quick though, and I always just like to double check what people say before I do something, especially if it involves me spending money lol.. Which is why I asked
