    2001 Z-28

    Exclamation Rear end I need help

    2001 Z28 Lingenfelter package pushing 405 to the rear. My stock 10 bolt crapped out on me just before I put it away for the winter. Looking for options to get it fixed so I can get her out soon. Is a complete replacement suggested or could I get away with upgrading the gears to a "bulked up" 373 as opposed to a stock 342. Also does anyone know a range of price on this??

    As far as "upgrading" Your stock 10 bolt, anything over stock Hp puts them at risk. I would suggest saving up and replacing the entire rear with a 12 bolt. Theres no way to make a stock ten bolt "strong". If you do decide to rebuild the stock ten bolt its like a ticking time bomb, it may last a few years or it may last a few days..

    12 bolt or 9 inch Ford. My buddy was pondering the same thing after stripping an axel and the "bulked up" 10 bolt grenaded on him 2 months after he had it rebuilt! Don't even waste your time.
