Quick question before Headers and LS6

I am about to install my Headers and Mufflex y-pipe to my Magnaflow exhaust. I am also installing a ls6 intake. Am I supposed to remove the EGR and use some kind of block off plate? I recall reading something about it, but if you can help a guy out and be specific, it would be appreciated. Is the block off something I can pick up at autozone or something?

I need to EGR tuned out correct? I read the car will ping and such. Will driving it before the tune do any damage to the motor?

Wow, Post 666..... Must be a sign... LOL

You'll need the block off plate if you go with the LS6. I don't know if you can buy the plate from an auto parts store though.

Are your headers EGR compliant? (meaning do they have the egr tubes?) If so then yes you need the plates.

You should get a tune after a headers install. Reason for it is --- Rear O2's are deleted so the PCM needs to have that removed from it's programming. Same with the EGR. It too will trip the CEL.

Yes you can drive it without tuning. I did for 7 months. Some have never done it. If you do not it at WOT you will run a little lean, because of no inputs from the rear O2's.

I made my own plates. If you go and buy a blank metal cover for a 5x5 electrical box you have enough to make it. Grab one gasket from the manifold tubes and the one from the EGR. with a sharpie outline the gaskets including the bolt holes. drill the holes for the bolts 1st. cut the plate with a dremel tool or cutting tool. put the gaskets back and your DIY plates. tighten the bolts.

you can order them as well. you have to search on google or ebay.
