    quick oil question

    Is it ok if my oil is overfull by a half a centimeter or so on the dipstick?


    Thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, just in case!

    You put in 6 qts. I have done this in the past. No problems. If you are worried drain 1/2 qt.

    I bought 6 quarts for the oil change, but I still have 1/4 bottle left, so I'm guessing it's in the vicinity of 5.75 quarts.

    But either way, no harm done from a little extra oil?

    did you start the engine up to fill up the oil filter first then check the level?

    Yea, i filled the oil filter before i put it on, started her up for a minute to get things flowing, waited 5 minutes and then topped her off. I guess i just added a little too much
