Question about o2 sensors
Our 1998 Z28 needs new o2 sensors and i was told to only buy GM o2 sensors. That the ones from like advance aren't any good. Any truth to this? Thanks Robert.

Was it GM that told you only to buy GM? Also do you need pre-cat or post-cat O2 sensors. If you need pre-cat I would recommend only GM, but post cat you don't have to worry about where you get them, they will be much cheaper if you go Bosch. Also, if they are post-cat you may just want to look into O2 sims, then you won't have to worry about replacing them again later, and if you mod it you will already have the sims and won't have to set off lights and worry about getting them later.

Mine has all 4 bosch....no probs so far. There could be future problems though..the wires are more exposed to heat then the gm ones.

Is it pretty well stock severe? From what I understand is the bosch are good for stock applications but aren't so great once you start modding. I don't actually know though, so I should probably be flamed for even talking

If you get it tuned by a quality shop it will be fine. The thing is that aftermarket os sensors read differently then stock, so you need it tuned by someone that tunes based on actual readings, not based on what should be being read. A lot of tuners don't take real time readings of things like o2 sensors into account when they tune because they assume that they know the logistics of what an O2 will be sending, therefore their tune will not be effective because the new programming will be expecting different O2 readings at different times than non-oem sensors send. I don't know if I got that out in a very understandable way, but I hope you get the jist of what I mean. It's pretty much like when you tell a shop what you have and they assume they have a pre-loaded tune that is perfect for you rather than tuning every car individually, so individual differences are not taken into account.
