problems with the ss
i recently had to get a new power steering pump which started it all. then i got a check engine light about a month later, got it checked and it said misfire on cylinder 5. i took it to the engine experts and they changed the plugs and wires. the number 5 plug was def. bad i saw it. on the way home from paying for this again!!!! more money!!!!! my ses light comes on again!!! no!!! im so pissed. well as it gets dark the lights start to go dim and the car slowly knocks off while all my gauges are going crazy. i have to get pushed off the road and to my apt. do you think maybe they forgot to hook the alternator back up???? maybe?? i hope so. the alternator wouldny just go out immediately like that would it??? had no trouble with it before. please help!!! this was tonight actually. 12/14/05

Dead battery. Either the alternator was not hooked back up or it has crapped out, too. Or the alternator could be fine and hooked up correctly and your battery has seen it's last day. Is it the original battery? If so, it's about time for it to die.

The positive battery connector(red one) gets loose sometimes causing the gauges to jump as well as get dim lights and lower RPM's at idle.

Check your battery cables and the connection to the alt....sounds like the alt took a crap though. If it was me, i'd replace the alt and recharge the battery.
