    Problem with AC

I've been having an issue with the ac on my 01 Z28.
It blows cold just fine but when taking long trips after about an hour or so of driving with the ac on it seems to just stop blowing down to just a trickle of air. It's still cold air just not much of it coming out. Also, the blower seems to be blowing just as hard it just isn't coming out anywhere.

Anyone seen this before or have any ideas how to fix it??

I have experienced this. Your issue is that the evaporator is freezing. The first thing you need to check is that your Freon level might be low. The low side of your system is pretty much the temperature of the a/c vent. I believe a good reading should be 45 to 50psi but it depends on the outside temperature and I am in FL.

When you turn the a/c off and wait at least 15 mins it does work normal right? I like to keep my temperature real low because of FL. My low side pressure is around 45 psi but I don't take long trips. Last time we have a long trip I just lowered the inside temperature a bit and it worked fine all the way. When mine was freezing I had about 35 psi of Freon on the low side but it will work great for short trips.

should be a green cap on passenger side. May have a "L" on the cap. "L" is the low pressure side. "H" is for high pressure. DO NOT Force freon into the high side.

Most kits are all in one. I did this for my DD Monday night. The one I pick up was form O'Reilly's, forgot the name, but it's a tall black can with a pressure gauge and hose attached to it. I is an "all in one" system. Has the oil, freon & the gauge is adjustable to outside temp so you don't over fill.
