It sounds like the front pump bearing. Time to change the pump and flush out the entire system.

You will also want to inspect the fluid carefully. The stock power steering cooler mounted in the upper radiator hose can fail and cross contaminate both the coolant and P/S fluid.

1st determine if there is a leak and where it is.

No Leaks: - Pump failure. Replace, I recommend using the local parts stores because most are remand or come from China and are known to fail again within a yr. For a pump I either use gmpartsdirect.com or Rock Auto.

    Leaking:

    1) Check the Alternator - Why, if you have PS fluid all over it your leak is at the reservoir. If leaking here you now have other issues to worry about. Get enough fluid in the alternator you'll be replacing it and possibly the battery too. Ask me how I know...

    2) Check the R&P - is fluid all over the place on the K member. R&P is leaking and needs replacing.

If at the reservoir - check the O rings on the high pressure hose. Over tighten and they fail. An easy rebuild just need a .80 cent O ring from any parts store.
