    Possible Fuel Problem??

When I had my car street tuned last summer, the guy that did it said my car wasn't getting enough fuel for some reason and he couldn't tune it that well. I replaced the fuel filter (which was filthy) and hope it solved the problem. the tuner said i could check my fuel pressure via the shrader valve... but i need to buy a fuel pressure gauge for that. what pressure should i be getting? is there anything else i can check? i'm getting it tuned within a week or so and want to avoid this problem.

Any parts store will have a tester, just screw it on and see what your pressure is at, at idle, with ignition on and through the rpm range.

What is the spec during idle? I'm having a strange issue with a 2000 A4 LS1 Formula. My whole right bank is misfiring and I am also getting a lean code, when I add carb cleaner into the throttle body, the idle improves for a second then starts misfiring again....I ruled out the coil packs.

i still haven't had the time to buy the tester. if there is still a problem after replacing the fuel filter, could the injectors be clogged? hopefully i will get a good reading.

youll feel when your injectors are clogged, if the fuel filter doesnt fix the problem go to the regulator.

Visually/physically inspect RH exhaust for leaks, missing or loose exhaust hardware, RH O2 sensor #1 is installed securely and electrical connector not contacting exhaust system or ignition wires, and vacuum leaks that will only affect the RH bank such as the intake manifold, the injector O-rings, etc.

We used a TECH 2 scanner and found that the #7 injector was firing about 4 lbs. less than the other ones. We are going to put a new injector in and see of that fixes the problem...I'll post up tomorrow and let you know the outcome.

so i just bout a fuel pressure tester kit and couldn't get any reading at all. I screwed it onto the shrader valve and had the clear tube stretched out into a small gas can. when i turned the car on, nothing happened on the gauge and when we moved the tester gas squirted out of where the tester connects to the valve (not between the shrader valve and the tester but just after the metal part of the tester that screws in). gas went everywhere so i shut off the car and called it a day. is there something i'm doing wrong? i want to make sure i still don't have a fuel problem before i go and get it tuned on tuesday!

Did you get one like this KD tools one from sears with the quick connect for the different adapters? If so check at the quick connect areas to make sure everything is seat properly.I had one that the valve was slightly unscrewed and wouldn't properly depress the schrader valve inside.
